Royal Award for Sir Louis Smeets Her majesty Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands awarded Louis Smeets with the title Member of the “Orde van Oranje Nassau”. This title is awarded to people who deserve this because of their special earnings for the Dutch community. Mr. Van Beers, Mayor of the city of Roermond, suprised Sir Louis on Fridaymorning April 27th at his home-address to present him with this award. In his speech the Mayor said that Sir Louis deserved this award because of his longtime achievement as leader of the band Dixie Aces and his work for national dutch radiostation NOS. The mayor also said that Dixie Aces are perfect ambassadors for the city of Roermond in The Netherland and abroad.
